Hi

Do you happen to know why the modded version of 3.3.1 doesn't give out speech instructions properly (I might get two or three directions in an hour long journey) ?

Because the only way to modify Maps for Navigation outside the USA was a very dirty hack. There's a lot of functionality loss, but your choice, at the moment, is this, or nothing.

Ah OK. Yes it does work, but you don't get any turn by speech or visual instructions, just the rolling route map. Here's hoping Google sort out their map licensing issues sooner rather than later !

You can't uninstall it unless you root. You'll need to install the non-root version manually, preferably from the xda thread so that you get the latest version.

Hi - got navigation working on my T-mob G1 but not sure if I should have done it differently. Phone is running latest cyanogenmod rom - when I went to uninstall google maps it only offered to uninstall updates - this I did. Then installed navlauncher - said as I had root it could uninstall google maps for me and install modded version - so I let this happen. Now navlauncher runs with navigation in the uk however I see in my downloads section of the market there is an update to google maps from google inc - Now does this mean that I have somehow left the old google maps on the phone and it needed a better uninstall? Or is the modded version seeing the update and I should just always ignore it. Thanks.

There's a new update to Google Maps, and Nav Launcher has not been updated for this yet. The problem is that Google Maps 3.4.0 requires some frameworks that aren't available in Android 1.6, so I'm still working on a way to detect your version of Android and download the appropriate update.

If you check in the first post in this thread, there are links to download the modified version of Google Maps. Those are the most recent versions (more recent than Nav Launcher will install), so you can download the appropriate version on your device if you want to avoid the update notification in the Market.

Now you should have the Navigate option in Google Maps.

If you have any issues with this, please reply for assistance.

if there some option for multitouch in ver. 4.0?

I have CM 4.2.14.1
removed Google maps update
installed voice synth
installed Nav launcher..
it downloads the rooted apk, (maps.root.apk) but the phone refuses to install it ! I've just been selecting it, saying yes to install then get error "Maps Could bot be installed on this phone"

Any suggestions? what am I missing?

//EDIT maps 3.1.2 << is that the problem?
