removed Google maps update
installed voice synth
installed Nav launcher..
it downloads the rooted apk, (maps.root.apk) but the phone refuses to install it ! I've just been selecting it, saying yes to install then get error "Maps Could bot be installed on this phone"

Any suggestions? what am I missing?

//EDIT maps 3.1.2 << is that the problem?

Got it working...
cheated and used woSaa's installer from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... 887&page=2
force close errors a lot, but app still runs..

You shouldn't have any errors. There's something strange on your phone if you were having issues installing it, or if it's crashing now. Also, the latest Nav Launcher tries to install 4.0.0, not 3.1.2.

It's working fine now - apart from being outside the US.
Used it earlier to find my way to pick up some stuff I won on eBay. The tracking was spot on and very quick.

The 3.1.2 was the version left when I uninstalled google maps 4.0 updates

Did you install the modified version from the first post of this thread?

If the modified version of Google Maps doesn't support your location, then you're out of luck.

It only directs you to download it if you don't have Google Maps (a version with Navigation) installed already.

Hello! I just don't get it how to uninstall google maps without rooting my device? There's no google maps in Settings-Applications. I installed NavLauncher from market, but it didn't install modified version of maps (i guess the reason is i still have a stock one)

I have stock Nexus One.

You can't uninstall it without rooting your device. You only uninstall the existing version if your device is rooted.

So why is there phrase about "If you do not have root, download"?
Should i just download and install this apk on my unrooted device? And why then i need NavLauncher? :)
